Junior Sits On Pole....Ahhhhh

Junior must have heard my last song and was so inspired by the fact that I pushed him out of the closet, that he went out and set a new track record at qualifiyng for the Quaker State 400. You can see the pained smile on his face from sitting on the pole. It brings to mind another song by John Mellenamp, "Hurts So Good."

Here are your picks and the qualifying results.

Tearful Truex Tames Twists and Turns

Martin Truex Jr. led the most laps on his way to victory at the road course in Sonoma, California.

It was the second win of his career and first since 2007.  The win was especially surprising, considering the fact that during qualifying the complete wiring harness in the 56 car burnt to a crisp. The other thing that I can't figure out is how Montoya ran out of fuel. No other driver ran out so why did Montoya? Either his crew chief screwed up the mileage calculations or his gas man didn't get the gas tank all the way full. Either way, for once Montoya didn't screw it up, rather his team did. And poor Kurt Busch. He is his own worst enemy. He may have had the car to beat but got penalized for speeding on pit row. Then while serving his drive through penalty, he got penalized for speeding on pit row. What an idiot!!! Here are the results and standings.

Week-Dennis 216, Neil 186, Michael 182, PT 182, Joe 182, Chuck 177, Freddy 173, Norb 157, Jim 154, Brent 153, Toby 138, Terry 125

Segment-Dennis 1264, Michael 1247, PT 1225, Joe 1185, Chuck 1153, Neil 1149, Brent 1130, Freddy 1127, Toby 1063, Norb 1033, Terry 973, Jim 898

Overall-Michael 2755, Chuck 2733, PT 2684, Dennis 2667, Freddy 2626, Brent 2588, Joe 2583, Neil 2571, Jim 2482, Toby 2401, Norb 2373, Terry 2329

This week's race is Saturday night under the lights at Kentucky Motor Speedway. I need your picks by 4 P.M. on Friday. The race starts around 6:45 P.M. on Saturday night. This is the next to last race in the second segment. The last race of the segment is next Saturday night at Daytona. So that leaves the door open for four or five of our members to make a run at winning this segment. Keep hope alive! Keep hope alive!

For my song this week I was going to write a Truex themed song. I had plenty of songs to choose from. I could have used "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper or "True" by Spandeau Ballet or "Be True To Your School" by the Beach Boys. However, I was not feeling any creative inspiration. Truex is a nice guy but he is not controversal like Stewart. He is not popular just because of his last name like Earnhardt. He is not married to a supermodel like Jeff Gordon is. He has not won 5 championships like Johnson. He is not hyped up on 5 Hour Energy drink like Bowyer and he is not an asshole like the Busch brothers. He is just an average ordinary guy who happens to drive race cars. So I went back to an old faithful theme. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is coming out.

McMurray Goes Both Ways

Jamie McMurray will start from the pole at the twisting turning track at Sonoma on Sunday afternoon. See it is a road course and you have to turn right and left. That's why he goes both ways. I thought I would explain it for the dim witted out there. Not that theres anything wrong with being dim witted. Hell I love my family and some of them are dim witted. (I still love you son) Here are the picks and qualifying results.

Neil-16, 14, 9, 24=37
Norb-99, 14, 9, 42=35
Terry-1, 14, 9, 47=34
Brent-15, 14, 42, 9=33
Jim-18, 14, 9, 24=32
Chuck-5, 24, 9, 14=26
Freddy-48, 24, 9, 14=25
Toby-48, 14, 42, 9=22

Have you ever wondered how Jamie McMurray gets his hair to look the way it does, and more importantly, why does he want it to look this way.

I was able to get an exclusive interview with McMurray's sister-in-law's, boyfriend's, second cousin's wife's, step son's babysitter who told me that Jamie McMurray's hair heros are;

Albert Einstein

Ziggy Stardust aka David Bowie

Rock-n-roll hall of famer and murderer, Phil Spector

Rod Stewart

And his greatest hero of all, Don King

The Biff Is Buff

Greg Biffle was the big winner of the race in Michigan on Sunday. It looks as if the Rousch Fords have finally figured the new cars out. After a poor start of the season, The Rouschkateers have placed well at both Pocono and Michigan. It could be because Rousch has entered a a cooperative alignment with Penske Racing. In other words, Jack Rousch paid Roger Penske a shit load of money to tell him how to set up the new cars, because Rousch can't figure it out.

Anyway, here are the results and standings.

Week-Freddy 202, Joe 193, Toby 183, Terry 156, Dennis 151, PT 145, Michael 141, Norb 141, Brent 126, Neil 122, Chuck 93, Jim 70

Segment-Michael 1065, Dennis 1048, PT 1043, Joe 1003, Brent 977, Chuck 976, Neil 963, Freddy 954, Toby 925, Norb 876, Terry 848, Jim 744

Overall-Michael 2573, Chuck 2556, PT 2502, Freddy 2453, Dennis 2451, Brent 2435, Joe 2401, Neil 2385, Jim 2328, Toby 2263, Norb 2216, Terry 2204

Congrats to Michael for moving into the points lead. Enjoy it son cause it won't last long. There is no way in hell that I will let you win. Remember, I keep the score.

I hate to disappoint you all but I have no song for the week. I am getting the hell out of town tomorrow and will be gone for the week. This week NASCAR moves to the road course at Sonoma. Qualifiyng is on Saturday this week. I will need your picks by 1 P.M. on Saturday afternoon. Be sure to check the entry list before you send me your picks. There will be some differnt drivers in some of the cars this week.

Johnson Takes It In The Pocono

The tricky triangle proved to be no match for the 48 team of Jimmie "Tiny" Johnson. He dominated the day to get his third win of the season and take command of the points lead with a maximum points day. That makes me sick...even though I did pick him.

Dennis and Michael's plan to take advantage of the qualifying and practice rainouts, didn't pan out exactly as they had hoped. While they did finish first and second for the week, it wasn't near the landslide they though it would be. So hahaha!!! Here are the points for the week and the standings:

Week-Michael 192, Dennis 191, PT 190, Joe 189, Chuck 187, Neil 184, Jim 171, Brent 154, Freddy 154, Toby 151, Terry 131, Norb 126

Segment-Michael 924, PT 898, Dennis 897, Chuck 883, Brent 851, Neil 841, Joe 810, Freddy 752, Toby 742, Norb 735, Terry 692, Jim 674

Overall-Chuck 2463, Michael 2432, PT 2357, Brent 2309, Dennis 2300, Neil 2263, Jim 2258, Freddy 2251, Joe 2208, Toby 2080, Norb 2075, Terry 2048

This week's race is at Michigan on Sunday at 12:15 P.M. I will need your picks by 2:30 P.M. on Friday afternoon.

I have a confession to make. I screwed up with Terry's picks for the week. I gave him the 14 in the first group. However the 14 is in the second group. My bad but it's not a big deal. Terry is so far behind (no offense) that it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

This week my song is a tribute to this week's winner, Jimmie "Tiny" Johnson and to the fact that he wins quite often. On the bright side though, he loses more races than he wins. So, this is for all you Jimmie Johnson haters out there, including me. This song put me on the couch tonight because my wife is a Jimmie Johnson lover. That just shows the sacrifices I am willing to make to provide good, high quality entertainment.

Rain at Pocono washed out practice and qualifying on Friday. In accordance with NASCAR rules, when the first practice and qualifying are both rained out, the starting lineup is set by owners points.
So here are your picks and qualifying points.

Dennis-48, 20, 42, 99=41
Michael-48, 20, 42, 15=40
Jim-48, 27, 42, 20=34
Chuck-48, 24, 42, 20=32
Neil-48, 24, 9, 20=32
Norb-2, 20, 9, 5=27
Joe-48, 11, 42, 2=21
Terry-14, 20, 9, 5=21
PT-48, 24, 42, 22=20
Freddy-2, 11, 42, 24=11
Toby-2, 24, 9, 11=11
Brent-2, 11, 42, 78=6

Dennis and Michael look pretty smart right now with their picks. They won't look so smart when the Toyota's lose their engines and the Rousch Ford ends up a couple laps down. I am recording the race so don't ruin it for me.

Stewart Stuns At Monster Mile

Tony Stewart came out of nowhere to win the Autism Speaks 400 at Dover on Sunday. Once again, Kyle Busch dominated the race early only to fail to win it at the end. That seems to be a reoccuring theme for the 18. It goes to prove the old adage that it doesn't really matter how many laps you lead as long as you lead on the last lap. Tony Stewart only led three laps but he led the most important lap. It seems to me that the 18 team has a hard time keeping up with the changes in the track.

The Fords seemed to struggle again but Keselowski did manage a 5th place finish. Rousch Racing still hasn't got the Gen 6 car quite figured out yet. They really need to get it together before it's too late.

I can't believe I am going to say this but it woulden't have bothered me if Montoya would have won the race. I am not a fan but I do like to see an underdog win every now and again. The 42 has been coming on strong as of late. Montoya must be off the Colombian coffee and the Colombian coke. Hell he hasn't even blown up a jet dryer yet this year.

This Sunday's race is in Pocono on Sunday at 12:30 P.M. Pocono is a 2.5 mile triangle track and is known for long and boring green flag runs. Qualifying is tomorrow, Friday, June 7th at 2:10 P.M. I will need your picks by 2 P.M. tomorrow. I will be recording the race on Sunday so don't ruin it for me. This will be the 5th out of 9 races for Segment 2.

Here are your race results and the standings for the segment and the year so far.
Race-Joe 163, Dennis 154, Norb 154, Chuck 149, Terry 142, PT 141, Freddy 141, Michael 133, Toby 132, Jim 130, Neil 130, Brent 128

Segment-Michael 732, PT 708, Dennis 706, Brent 679, Chuck 696, Neil 657, Joe 621, Norb 609, Freddy 598, Toby 591, Terry 561, Jim 503

Overall-Chuck 2276, Michael 2240, PT 2167, Brent 2155, Dennis 2109, Freddy 2097, Jim 2087, Neil 2079, Joe 2019, Norb 1949, Toby 1929, Terry 1917

Last week's song was about Tony Stewart and, lo and behold, he won the race. This week's song is about Clint Bowyer. So he should be a good pick to win this weekend.

Hamlin Has High Hopes

For the second week in a row, Denny Hamlin will start from the pole. It was unusually warm day in Dover and that created some extremely slick conditions. Hamlin went out 19th and laid down his fast lap. There were plenty of fast cars to attempt their qualifiyng run after Hamlin, but as the day went on the track got even slicker. Jimmie Johnson damn near spun his car and qualified near the middle of the pack. Here are the picks and qualifying results:

PT-5, 56, 47, 18=32
Toby-48, 20, 42, 11=29
Freddy-48, 20, 9, 18=25
Joe-48, 11, 42, 2=25
Michael-48, 20, 42, 5=19
Dennis-48, 11, 42, 15=18
Norb-15, 11, 42, 48=18
Terry-5, 20, 9, 14=17
Brent-48, 56, 9, 15=15
Jim-48, 27, 42, 20=14
Neil-48, 24, 9, 56=14
Chuck-48, 24, 9, 15=1

The top 15 in qualifying were-11, 56, 18, 20, 39, 55, 29, 2, 22, 1, 5, 88, 78, 42, 15

As you can see, Toyota has seven cars in the top 15, while Chevy has six and Ford only two. The Fords continue to struugle much as they have all year. In fact Rousch/Fenway had no cars in the top 15. The two Fords belong to Penske Racing. Jack Rousch better start paying more attention to his race team then he does to his goofy lookin' hats. It kinda makes you wonder if Matt Kenseth saw this downturn coming and decided to jump ship to Joe Gibbs and Toyota. Anywayback to Hamlin.

This is Denny's baby mama, Jordan Fish. When you always have your legs spread apart,

You end up looking like this!!!
