Hamlin Wins Second in a Row

Denny Hamlin celebrates victory on Sunday

Okay I'm gonna get on my soapbox again. Why does NASCAR choose to hold so many races at the boring 1.5 mile tracks? Five of the ten races in the chase are at these so called "cookie cutter" tracks. They are soooo boring. Take last night's race for example. There were times that only nine or ten drivers were on the lead lap. If it weren't for the stupid wave around rule, there would have only been five or six cars on the lead lap by the end of the race. Hey NASCAR, instead of making up convoluted wave around rules, go to tracks that are actually exciting for fans to watch. The drivers enjoy these 1.5 mile tracks because of the good racing. What good racing? If those drivers were sitting at home or in the stands watching the race, they would understand what I am talking about. Has NASCAR not noticed the empty seats in the stands? Or the ever growing problem with sponsorship? Tony Stewart has lost his primary sponsor for next year. Matt Kenseth has had problems all year getting sponsorship. There are some teams that run unsponsored. NASCAR needs to WAKE UP!!! Let's face it, fan support drives everything. Without it, ticket sales take a nose dive, TV ratings shrink and sponsorship dries up. How about changing the races in the chase? Take out Chicago, Kansas City and Texas and move the races to Darlington, Bristol and Richmond. You could still leave the two races in Charlotte and Homestead. And how about doing away with a 43 car field? A 38 car field makes more sense. Get rid of the start and park teams. NASCAR also says it wants to put more emphasis on qualifying. Then how about doing away with the rule that the top 35 in owner's points are guaranteed to be in the race? Make everyone qualify on speed. That would force teams to put a hell of a lot more emphasis on qualifying. And finally, scrap the car of tomorrow. The idea was to create parity and to help the under funded teams. How is that working for you NASCAR? Not well. The under funded teams still suck and parity is boring. Okay I am done.
