#11 FedEx Brings Bristol Win For Hamlin

The 11 car of Denny Hamlin was able to pass the 99 car with about 20 lap to go and held on to win the Bristol night race. In 2007 progressive banking was added to the track at Bristol to create a upper groove. This would allow for cleaner racing and cut down on the bump and run passes that had made Bristol one of the most exciting tracks in racing. The drivers loved the new surface but the fans hated it. Bristol had been one of the hardest tracks to get tickets for, but after the chnges to the track, ticket sales steadily declined. So in an attempt to bring back the fans, the track owner decided to grind down the upper groove and get rid of the progressive banking. Most drivers were not happy with that decision. The drivers need to remember that ticket sales help to pay their salaries. If you watched the race last night, you could see that the results were mixed. The race was better than it had been but not as good as it used to be. One of the best moment of the night was the incident between the 14 and 17.
In conclusion, I have one piece of advice to racetrack owners. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Now back to the FedEx team. As you can see from my pictures of the week, FedEx brings it but UPS really delivers.
