The bad news is that Kevin Harvick only led three laps at Richmond on Saturday night. The good news was that it was the last three laps. Just when that crazy Colombian cocaine cowboy Juan Pablo Montoya, looked like he was about to win for the first time on an oval track, a late caution caused his dreams to go up in smoke. Kind of like a jet dryer at the Daytona 500. With only seven laps left in the race, Montoya and Harvick both pitted to take four tires while the rest of the field took only two or some none at all. On the restart Harvick was able to dive to the inside and pass the cars that didn't have the four fresh tires, while Montoya was stuck on the outside.
Racing on the short tracks on a full moon Saturday night is supposed to be rough and tumble racing. However for the first 350 laps of the race, that was the furthest thing from the truth. Drivers seemed to be eager to let the faster cars go around them without putting up much resistance. That is until the last 50 laps or so. That is when things started to get interesting.
Kasey Kahne was not happy when Mark Martin cut down in front of him. The driver of the number 5 car got his revenge by spinning Martin out. Now if you have ever seen Kahne in person, he is a wee little fellow. He is built like a no. 2 pencil. Most of you also know that Matk Martin is a gym rat and is in peek physical condition. Although Mark Martin is old enough to be Kasey Kahne's father, Martin would snap Kahne like a twig.
Kurt Busch ran in the top 10 all night and had a car capable of winning the race. But alas, Kurt Busch is who he is and managed to piss several drivers off. First he knocked Matt Kenseth sideways.
Then he managed to run the 56 of Truex up into the wall. Then finally he got to Tony Stewart.
So as usual, Kurt Busch turned a good night into a fiasco.
Now back to the winner, Kevin Harvick. As many of you know, Harvick will be leaving RCR at the end of the season and moving over to Stewart-Haas Racing. I don't know about you but I think Tony Stewart may have alterior motives for hiring Harvick. Let's just put it this way. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I don't know what Stewart sees in her. Besides himself that is.
This is the lastest photo of the Harvicks bundle of joy. Maybe it's just me but that is one ugly baby.
Well I have a new song for you all to enjoy, Family Tradition. Music by Hank Williams Jr. and lyrics by yours truly.

The race at Talladega this Sunday will be the first race of the second segment. There has been quite a shake up in the first and second car groups. Several cars in the first and second groups have switched places. The third group only had one change. The 51 moved up to the second group and the 9 moved down into the third. I have changed the groupings on this site and will get you a hard copy of the new groups. So people pay attention when you send me your picks. Make sure you know what group your picks are in before submitting them to me. The start of the second segment is a time for renewal and redemption for all you bottom feeders. Now is the time for you to regroup and, if not compete for the championship, at least competer to win a segment. I need your picks by 11 A.M. on Saturday. Qualifying is at 11:15 Saturday morning.
